The official desktop client for Zoom, the popular video conferencing and collaboration tool used by millions of people worldwide
Review by Mihaela Teodorovici on October 29, 2020
With all that is going around today, more and more physical events are taken to the virtual world. The way communication and collaboration are made has changed fundamentally, both in the personal and the business environment. From simple video calls between two friends to briefing conferences, webinars and training sessions or customer-oriented events, all are now online.
Zoom is one of the most popular and widely used video conferencing and collaboration software tools, and for good reason. It offers one of the most reliable and easy to use client applications for desktop and mobile platforms alike. Below we will talk about Zoom’s desktop client for Windows.
Join, schedule and host video meetings
Suggestively called Zoom Client, this particular application brings all the advantages of the Zoom app to the Windows desktop. It allows users to join existing meetings (the correct ID is required) or host and schedule meetings of their own. In the cost-free Personal edition, the Zoom client can host up to 100 participants in multi-user meetings with video support.
Just like in the case of the Zoom mobile clients, working with the Windows client is extremely intuitive. The main window displays information regarding the upcoming meetings. The information is updated as the user schedules new online events. Recurring meetings are possible and online sessions can be recorded by the application and saved to a local video file.
A unique personal meeting ID is created automatically for your account and a passcode is created for participants who dial in from a phone or a room system.
Chat and communicate with all the others during a meeting
The meeting screen automatically hides the options menu, splitting the entire screen to see a live video of all the participants. Users can easily manage audio and video settings while in the meeting. Advanced options are available in the Settings window, where users can make adjustments to obtain the best performance.
The host can also see the list of participants and invite new ones, chat with others and send emoticon reactions. He or she also lock the meeting and disable the waiting room and configure the participants’ permissions: to chat, unmute and rename themselves or share the screen.
A reliable and powerful video conferencing tool
The Zoom desktop client for Windows makes it possible for users to enjoy the powerful collaboration and conferencing application on their computer. It can host simple one-to-one calls, engaging online webinars with a large number of participants and collaborative conferences powered up by HD videos.
Ranked the top video conferencing application in reviews, Zoom provides straightforward clients to both mobile and desktop platforms. Therefore, if you haven’t had the occasion to try it out, you should definitely take it for a spin.
